Why Is Loratadine Prescribed For The Treatment Of Tonsillitis?

I have been given loratadine to treat tonsilitus, along with amoxicillin and paracetamol.From what I ve seen loratadine is an antihistamine so not sure why it was prescribed, doctors where I am in the world tend to over prescribe so don t want to take what s not necessary

Loratadine is useful if you have cold or rhinitis or along with tonsillitis you may develop Eustachian tube block so it may relieve the congestion and block.

If you above symptoms take otherwise no need.
