Why Does My 2.5 Year Daughter Does Not Have A Vaginal Opening?

I hope so. I was watching my granddaughter a couple of day ago. While washing her private areas I noticed that she does not have a vaginal opening,is this normal? I feel so stupid asking. I raised 3 daughters and never noticed. She is 2 1/2 years old. Is there a protective covering?

Dear member,
Thanks for writing to healthcare magic.
in a young girl if normal then the vagina opening will be present however it may be small.
there are young girls with completely blocked vagina which at puberty causes the blood to be retained inside and pain abdomen.
As she is young the issue is not urgent but
very important. Please discuss with your
pediatrician when going for next checkup.
Your concerns are not silly , I think your astute observations might prevent her problem in future.
thanks.
