Why Do I Go Through Sleep Paralysis Especially When I Am Not Sleeping?

hi i been having sleep paralysis for two years going for three now . few days ago i had sleep paralysis couldn't move or talk . my question is why do i go through sleep paralysis especially when im not sleeping because im very aware when its happening .

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your symptoms. We need to exclude other neurological diseases in your case. This is because sleep paralysis occurs during sleep, however, in your case, symptoms are occurring when you are aware.

The most important condition to exclude would be transient ischemic attacks due to lack of blood flow to brain.

Other condition to exclude would be hereditary liability to pressure palsies, where the nerves are sensitive to mechanical compression.
