Why Do I Have Sticky Brown Vaginal Discharge, Slight Cramping And Vaginal Pain When I Am Not Sexually Active?

I had my tubes tied and a scraping of my lining done 9 months ago. I haven’t been sexually active in 3 yrs. I’m noticing a pain in my vagina like a tampon is stuck and I have a slimy brown discharge all of a sudden. I’m cramping slightly. What could this mean? Pregnancy is obviously not the problem.

Hi,

Your symptoms suggest deep vaginal infection. A vaginal swab culture and sensitivity test would clear the cause. Please consult your gynecologist for more specific advice after examination and needful investigations.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
