Why do I have shortness of breath in spring/ Summer ?

In every spring/summer i feel i am short of breath as if my nose is blocked. I have a dry nose. i feel suffocated at times when i think about it. I am a little clostrophobic so the very thought of travelling by air makes me feel suffocated. I am confused what is the problem. Is it all in my mind that makes me feel so as if i dont think about it much i dont even realize that i am having any such problem.

I had a abscess surrounding by bowels and it caused me to be septic this summer and in the Spring had shortness of breathe. Abscess was surgically drained and I am on the mend. Could the shortness of breathe been a symptom as I have been experiencing shortness again?

I am just curious. Years ago, I felt suffocating slightly during the summer and always wondered what that was about. I felt like I had to take in full breaths - filling my lungs to the maximum - otherwise, I felt like I had not enough oxygen. It happened for about 1 or 2 weeks, twice in my life. I m always a little worried that it could happen again... Thanks

My husband is unable to breathe at night. He has tried Advair and other types of asthma medicine and they have all failed. He has resorted to drinking because that works, unfortunately. He has developed a tolerance and now drinks a 15 pack and half a liter of vodka to breathe. He also gets nauseous and vomits once a day usually soon after eating, that started about two weeks ago. If he does fall asleep, it last a couple hours and he wakes up gasping for air, but he can't get any so he stays up miserable. Also, he describes it as slowly suffocating because it feels like an overweight man is sitting on his chest. What could this be? He is only 22.

I have been experiencing shortness of breath more frequently lately and excessive sweating even when I'm just sitting around. I am a 40 y/o/f, smoke approx 3/4 pack a day, and recently (since February) started working out and running. For the last 2 weeks, on top of these symptoms, I have been extremely tired to the point that I don't feel like working out or doing anything. This afternoon I took a nap. I was woke up in the middle of my nap feeling like I was suffocating. I just couldn't catch my breath. I sat in front of a fan coughing and trying to breathe. Since then I still continue to feel like I can't take a deep breath, I'm having heart palpitations, and at times have what I think are chest pains. Sometimes they're sharp and sometimes it just feels like someone is squeezing my chest. Also for the last few days when I breathe, it sounds like I have bubbles when breathing. What could these symptoms mean and should I go to the ED tonight or wait to see my family doctor tomorrow?
