Why Am I Having Blood With Mucous?

Coughing with brown specks in mucus and wormy looking brown things. Maybe dried blood. There is a slight taste of blood but ever so slight. Sometimes when I blow my nose there is a little blood, but not a nose bleed at all. I have had cough for long time and my dr says I have allergies and has me on Montelukast

Cough from long time with blood in mucus and specks , these symptoms may be due to .
1 Asthmatic allergic bronchitis as you are taking monteleukast ( a very good as an anti allergic ) but that is not sufficient . When such patient visit I prescribe them monteleukast+ bambuterol in combo pack twice in day . Since this is a prescription drug so consult your physician and get his advise.
2 Second reason of such cough with blood mixed sputum ( through nose or with mucus ) may be due to tuberculosis . As you mentioned that you are a patient of chronic cough so this is also an indication of tuberculosis . Diagnosis can be confirmed by X ray chest and blood examination for ES R and C BC . Also get in sputum for A F B ( tuberculosis).
3 Lung carcinoma is another most important cause of blood with mucus and chronic cough.
Get in M R I of lungs for confirmation.
In my opinion consult a pulmonologist and get his opinion.
