Which Specialist Should I Consult For A Fracture In The Face?

I am a 56 year od woman and took a fall 28 hours ago. I fell on the left side of my face onto a cement sidewalk. I did go to the ER and the CT scan of my face showed a fracture. I'm assuming under my eye because that is where most of the swelling is. The swelling is putting pressure on my left sinus. They recommended that I follow-up with a ear, nose and throat doctor. Do I need the plastic surgery type of doctor? I am resting and putting ice every 2-3 hours.

Hi..
Welcome to HCM..

As per your complain if you have fracture over the face and you are already done with a CT CAN, you should consult an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon and get evaluated and they are appropriate to evaluate and treat the fracture..

In case if the swelling is causing pressure over the sinuses you need to get proper medications and a steroid shot to reduce the swelling..

Along with it the treatment of the fracture is commonly surgical, but in cae if the fracture segments has not moved and fracture is on facial bone that does not move then at times, no treatment might be needed and the bone can heal on its own..

So better to consult an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon and get evaluated..
As of now take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen and do cool compresses over the swelling..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
