What To Do If Perianal Abcess Recurred After Treating It With Cream And Antibiotics?

I have a perianal abscess and was treated with cream and an antibiotic a month ago. It was much better while I was on the antibiotic, but it seems to be bad again. Is it possible to need a second round of the antibiotic or do I need another form of treatment?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain a Perianal abscess is a pus filled lump that occurs near the anus and it is commonly due to causes like Blocked anal glands, sexually transmitted infection, infected anal fistula etc..
You should consult a Proctologist and get evaluated and he can do a clinical evaluation and treat you accordingly..
In case if you have been already treated with antibiotics and the condition has relapsed an Incision and drainage of the abscess can be performed..
In case if there is presence of a Fistula, closure of the same has to be done along with surgery to drain the abscess..
You will also be given an antibiotic cover for curing infection faster..
You can also be advised topical antibiotic ointments..
Sitz bath that is sitting in a tub of warm water for 3 to 4 times a day can help..
Taking stool softeners like Docusate can help in easing evacuation of bowels..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
