What To Do After Hitting Head?

If I fellstraight back hitting head first on back on grass, other than putting ice packs on & resting is there something to look for or do? I am 71 and blacked out before its just for a min. & then I am alert & getting back up. Just checking to make sure I ve done what I should other than going to a dr or hospital. Anne

I read your question and I understand your concern.
You have done nothing wrong up until now. It is advisable not to be alone so as to be under observation for at least the next 24 hours, whether at home or a hospital. Worrying signs would be persistent headache and vomiting, weakness of the limbs or increased somnolence noted by the ones close to you (they should make sure you're awake every 4 hours during these 24 hours), if that is a case then you should be taken to a hospital possibly with head CT.
I hope that won't be necessary and things will work for the best.
