Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Common causes like prostate hypertrophy or urethral stricture or autonomous bladder in spinal injury etc. In prostate hypertrophy they will do trans urethral resection of prostate. In case urethral stricture need urethroplasty, in case bladder problem in spinal cord injury self catherization needed. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what is the cause for it. Please consult your urologist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
