Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

In my opinion, it is better to wait till 6 months to introduce solid food. Until then, milk will provide all necessary nutrients, and digestive apparatus may not be mature enough to digest solids. Till then give only breast milk, and formula feeds if milk out put low. Once stared, there is no hard and fast rule on interval.

We begin with 2 semi-solid feeds a day, and gradually increase to 4 times a day. Introduce one item at a time at an interval of 2 weeks. Breast feeding is given in between on a demand basis.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
