What Should Be Done For A Child With Congested Nasal Cavity And Vomiting?

I have a 10 month old that woke up Wednesday very congested and you could hear all the mucus in her nasal cavity. Shortly after she got up she started vomiting what looked to be mucus. She did this about 3 times through out the day. She seemed normal and happy. She had very loose stools Thursday, Friday,Saturday. She started vomiting again Saturday and all through the night. She is still having wet diapers and she is keeping some pedialyte down. I nursed her at 4:30 she kept that down I nursed her again at 8 and she vomited that all back up. Should I take her to the doctor?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi

Welcome to the HCM

It seems that your daughter is suffering from a gastroenteritis episode following respiratory tract infection. The most likely cause is a self limiting rotavirus infection.
Don't worry as this illness needs just symptomatic care. You may take the following measures to help her out:
-keep her well hydrated by regular oral rehydration therapy which includes ORS, lemonade, rice water, butter milk, soups etc. Avoid sweetened juices.
- start her on zinc supplement such as ZnD or Zinconia for 2 weeks. This will help in early recovery and boost up her immunity.
- give Syp. Ondensetrone or domperidone for vomiting episodes.
- acetaminophen may be given for fever spikes.

If she doesn't respond at all and oral acceptance is very low then visit a pediatrician for complete clinical evaluations and management accordingly.

Hopefully this will be helpful.
Take care
