What Precautions Need To Be Taken Post Appendectomy?

On july 7th I had an appendectomy. They were unable to do it laproscopically(sp?) so I do have a good sized incision on my abdomen.. They told me I wasn't to submerge it under water for 10 days, and it's been almost 4 weeks.. I was wondering if I was able to go swimming now.. Or should I wait longer?

Hello,

Four weeks are not sufficient time to heal completely. You may get pain during using abdominal muscles and it may lead to pain.

It is better to take 2-3 months if rest. If you're not feeling any pain while getting up from bed or not feeling pain while eating or not feeling pain while lifting of small weights then you may consider going to exercise.

Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
