What Leads To Sudden Onset Of Epilepsy?

Dear Doctor,i had two instances of fits(epilepsy). the first one was when i was about 16 years, when after masturbating, i got fits, nobody was there in the house, i woke up only to understand that i had fits becoz of my physical condition of lying on the floor. the second instance, before 2 months, this time, i had a spot pain at the anus tip during motion. the pain starts, increases to a level, when i feel my eyes going dark(giddiness), i came from bathroom, called my mom, and slept on the floor, i had time on one minute to understand that i am going unconscious. i woke upto realise and mom said that i had fits and was given a iron rod to be held in my palm, the fits gone away. i consulted my doctor, he said to take a EEG. i browsed through net about this, and concluded no medicine for this, my daily activity is doing exercise and being fit. but only around this time of fits occurence, that i realised that i have not exercised for past one month prior to fits occurence.

Hi,

You seem to be suffering from epileptic seizures, as you are having an aura just before onset of seizure, that makes you aware of the oncoming seizure and you just lie down to avoid yourself from any possible injury.

Though, an active life style with healthy diet, moderate exercise and proper sleep is beneficial in all types of illnesses including seizure disorders, still mere change of life style will not cure you from seizures completely. There is no truth in your assumptions, that there is no medicine for controlling seizures. Conversely, most of the seizures are controllable these days with proper diagnosis and treatment, even if not completely curable and the life of patient may become more comfortable and easy.

Therefore, I will advise you, to go for proper evaluation and treatment accordingly, under guidance of your doctor. Some times, the seizures may be a symptom of some illness, which if treated at an early stage, may give a satisfactory outcome. Also, many a times the frequency of seizures may be at long intervals in the beginning, but subsequently, seizure occurrence become more frequent.

EEG and CT Scan are the primary required tools for proper diagnosis of seizure. You have been advised EEG by your doctor to find the cause of your seizures, so that treatment may be done accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
