What Leads To Depression Along With BP And Breathlessness?
Hi i am a 47 year old male and I hve suffered with depression for many years. Never had a problem with blood pressure before however, my diastolic pressure is up in the 90s. I am a very fit person. I use the gym and swim regularly. Noticed also that I was quite short of breath which is unusual for me. Could the blood pressure and breathlesness be related to depression.
I am sorry for the health situation you are going through.
Depression is often associated with oscillations in blood pressure. Often depression is associated with anxiety. Chronic anxiety will cause oscillations in blood pressure. This explains why your diastolic pressure is around 90.
If you try to control your psychological problems (depression, anxiety, etc.), your diastolic pressure will be stabilized too.
With regards to being breathlessness, it is also related to your psychological/emotional status. I advise to run further cardiac tests to rule out organic heart problems as following: - ECG - electrocardiogram - holter monitoring - stress test
If everything is ok, then, all your problems are related to depression and you should discuss further with psychiatrist to change current treatment.
All the best! Dr.Albana
