What Kind Of Test Should Be Done For A Vaginal Infection?

I hope so. my aunt is 84 years old & has had a whitish green & yellow vaginal discharge for about one year. She went to the Dr & took Cipro. it did not work. she went back to dr & he said dont worry. Is there a test to find out what kind of infection she has so that it can be treated?

Hi,

You can get a vaginal swab culture and sensitivity test, which will reveal the nature of organisms involved in the infection and also the medications they are sensitive to. You can consult Gynecologist with the report for evaluation and appropriate management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi,

Vaginal discharge can be taken in a sterile swab and it can be tested by culture and sensitivity. Report would suggest what type of organisms are isolated and which group of antibiotics they are sensitive/resistant to. Depending on the report, appropriate medications can be given, which will help to overcome the infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
