What Is The Treatment For Swollen Veins Under The Tongue?

I have very swollen veins under the tongue. Using amocillin for gum infection but I have numbness of face. Checked with several pharmacists and they told me to discontinue using. I can see my dentist until Tuesday. Am in a panic as my gums are very sore and swollen and now the tongue thing.

Hello,

I can understand your concern. It seems that you have developed an allergic reaction to some allergen, probably amoxicillin that you are taking for the gum infection.

Stop this drug at once and start taking antihistamine such as Loratidine 10 mg (Lorfast) or Levocetrizine 5 mg (Levocet). The swelling should reduce in 1-2 days if it is due to allergic reaction only.

If it is not reducing and is increasing in size, you should wait for the dentist's appointment for clinical examination of the oral cavity and further investigations. If the situation worsens and you cannot wait till the dentist's appointment, then emergency treatment should be taken at hospital.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
