What Is The Treatment For Swollen And Painful Ankle?

Type 1 diabetic (25 years), recent swollen ankles from pronged sitting started 2 days prior to flight and lasted two weeks despite leg elevation, massage. Stopped after return flight with legs elevated. Then 3 weeks later, pain in right thigh, knee, groin area, gluteus. Gets worse at night during sleep, laying on either side, stretching. Pain goes away and returns intensely for no reason. No swelling, no redness. Front thigh weakness when climbing stairs from prior to swollen ankles continues. Hip flexor strain? Muscle infarction? Pompe?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Dear patient
It's mostly right lower limb radiculopathy due to lumbar disc prolapse. Both ankle swelling may due to oedema that may be early sign of fluid retention due to renal affection due to diabetes. You need to.be investigated with mri of lumbosacral spine with screening of whole spine to rule out disc prolapse. Also less possibility of peripheral neuropathy is there due to your long term diabetic state. To diagnose neuropathy EMG NCV of right lower limb.. Take a visit to expert neurophysician with report.
