What Is The Treatment For Microangiopathy?

I am a 63 years old. I have dull headaches throughout the day. This has been going on for about four months. Results of MRI indicate microangiopathy. My doctor said that this is normal with aging. I have a healthy lifestyle, non-smoker, normal blood pressure, and cholesterol. I exercise 3 times a week at the gym. I take a low dosage ASA daily. Is there treatment for this disease? What can I do about these headaches? Thank you.

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your symptoms and MRI brain findings.

First of all, I would like to reassure you that there is no need to worry about your MRI findings.

I agree with your doctor that these findings could be normal with ageing.

In any case, there is no specific treatment for microangiopathy. The treatment is mainly preventive, such as keeping the bP, sugar and cholesterol within normal limits.

You should continue taking aspirin tablets.

For headache relief, you could take diclofenac or ibuprofen tablets.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
