Ear infection is usually due to certain bacteria and can usually be treated effectively with either amoxycillin or clarithromycin. If the child is accepting amoxycillin, giving it should be fine. The fever or the ear discharge may last for a few days. No need to worry about it. Also give paracetamol and tepid sponging to reduce the temperature.

Alongside, if ear discharge is present, I would prefer administration of some antibiotic ear drop like ciprofloxacin. Talk to your doctor about it.
