What Is The Treatment For A Tumor In The Liver?

My grand daughter had a 3# tumor removed in 2006. It was a germ cell teratoma, she had chemo for 3 months and has been seen by the doctors annually. This January after having the CT, it showed that there is a golf ball size tumor now on her liver. We are now waiting until March to re-evaluate the growth and receive the options. I know that there is little known of these type of tumors and would like (of course) get the best medical advise, decisions. Are there specialists that have studied this and could you recommend? Thank you for the concideration

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is better to get a tissue diagnosis before starting the treatment. Do a USG guided biopsy for confirming the diagnosis. Most probably it would be a recurrence of previous tumor. You can consult pediatric oncologist for expert opinion.

Wishing all the best.

Thanks.
