ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

In reference to your query regarding hoarseness of voice, soreness in vocal cords and problems with breathing and talking. Here I would like to say that vocal cords play an important role in producing voice. Any disease or condition which affects the tension, flexibility, movement and approximation of vocal cords will lead to change in voice.

Depending on the above these are the common diseases giving rise to change in voice-

1- Vocal cord paralysis or weakness.

2- Vocal cords thickening.

3- Vocal nodule.

4- Vocal cord polyps.

5- Vocal cord ulcers.

6- Acute and chronic laryngitis.

7- Growth of larynx (Glottic) may be benign or malignant.

For confirmation of disease one gold standered investigation is Direct Laryngoscopy and Stroboscopy. This investigation is possible by involvement of your ENT doctor and according to diagnosis disease may be plan for treatment.

Regards.
