What Is The Sharp Pain In My Wrist After Removal Of Cast?
3 weeks ago had cmc reconstruction surgery. Doctor had to pin the thumb. Soft cast for 10 days. Pin was infected at that time, put in a hard cast for 4-5weeks and on antiboic for 7 days. 4 days ago started having sharp shooting pain in wrist. sometimes goes up the arm. Pain feels like my arm has been hit with a lightning bolt. Saw dr today, he blew me off. Told me there was no reason for the sharp pain and come back in 3 weeks to get the hard cast off. He made me feel like it was in my head. Please help me.
I have studied your case. This can be post cast tight ness.
Now you need to do exercises from trained physiotherapist. Active and against resistance are more important exercises. High protein diet. You may have good relief with physiotherapy like IFT [Interferential therapy] and TENS[Transcutaneous electrostimulation] along with ultrasound. So if possible you can start that.
If no relief then further investigate like x ray and MRI.
Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
