General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your husband is diagnosed with AS, he has been prescribed Indocap, he should continue to take it. It helps to reduce pain & inflammation.

AS, causes pain & stiffness in the spine. It may cause damage to the joints in the other parts of the body, pre mature osteoporosis, reduced flexibility, tiredness, neurological dysfunction due to nerve compression, etc.

The treatment is commonly conservative ( to reduce the stiffness) combined with exercises under a Physio therapist (to help joints become more flexible).

He should take low starch diet (fruits, veggies, meat, fish & low fat milk products), limited alcohol intake, avoid trans fat, preservative, avoid taking high salt or high sugar diet, etc. Take food rich in Omega 3 fatty acid like walnuts, flaxseeds, salmon, tuna, etc.

Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
