Hello Doctor, I am very concerned - my son who is 46 years is on medication for blood pressure and does not seem a well person. I have a blood prerssure monitor and it read 144/104 today. I often take it at radom and his blood pressure is always high. He does have it monitered at the GP surgery but the doctor does not send him for further tests. My father died at 58 years of an undetected heart condition, so that is why I am concerned for him. He has never smoked, does not drink alchohol and is on a healthy diet. He is a window cleaner, so does get plenty of excercise. Thanking you in anticipation
Hello The blood pressure is 144/ 104 mm of Hg. In your son case the diastolic (lower one ) is pretty high . Age of your son is 46 i.e. prone to heart disease. Your father died due to some heart disease. All above mentioned points are against your son and this is a cause of concern. But there are certain good things as he is non-smoker , hard worker , non-alcoholic , eating healthy diet . Any how you should be worried about your son . At the age of 46 years with familial history of heart disease and diastolic ( high ) BP is concerning. Your son need to investigated with EKG & ECHOCARDIOGRAM to isolate the case. I would recommend you visit a Cardiologist to sort this problem. Good luck.
