What Is The Remedy For A Swollen Knee With Pain After An Injury?

I banged my knee into a door earlier foolishly running out of the room and its really sore... its swollen and it really hurts when i bend it, like REALLY hurts like someone stabbed it with a knife, theres a lump on the top and im not sure if theres fluid into it. Any clues?

Hi,
You have most probably caused a soft tissue injury. Apply an ice pack for 20 minutes 3 to 4 times a day. Paracetamol and ibuprofen for pain. Keep mobile but avoid strenuous exercise. When sitting, try to elevate your knee.
If the pain is still present after 2 to 3 days and the swelling has gone down, you may need a scan.
