What Is The Lump That Spat Out While Coughing?

I have swollen glands under my jaw bone (both sides), i have also slight toothache. My throat was sore and it is hard to swallow. I tried to clear out flem and spat out what felt like a hardish lump into the sink. I washed off the flem with the tap and there was what looks like a peanut sized bit of tissue/sinue. I read a story in a paper where a person spat/coughed up a small throat cancer and i was a little concerned

Hi welcome to the health care magic

Your physical examination is necessary before starting any medications...

Don't directly think about malignancy...
Acute bacterial infection in upper respiratory tract can also lead such presentation...

Your work up done as follow...
-CBC
-Auscultation
-Chest x ray
-sputum examination

According to cause specific treatment given

Here inflammation seems severe, for which short term steroid like betamethasone 0.5 mg for five days can be prescribed...

If infection present than antibiotic course given

If x ray shows mass than malignancy suspected and for that USG guided FNAC needed to rule out malignancy

Take care

Consult pulmonologoist for examination
