What Causes Severe Bouts Of Coughing With Feeling Of Throat Obstruction?

I am coughing and itching and my throat feels like I have a lump. I am on a number of medications. I also had a virus in my heart 6 months ago and my function is 30% so I have an internal defibrillator. I did have bronchitis last month, but this is different.... Coughing, itching, and coughing so hard I wet my pants.

Hi dear ,

As per your query you have bouts of coughing and feeling of throat obstruction. Well the symptoms you mention in query is pointing towards a condition known as globus sensation . There can be many reasons for such sensation like :-

Acid reflux

Mucosal lesion .

Stress

Muscle spasm

I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination and treatment . Doctor will take history ,order test like X-ray and endoscopy .Doctor may prescribe antibiotics or medicine like sucralfate along with anti histamine . Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist . For now do warm saline gargles and drink warm water mix with one spoon of honey .
