What Is The Dosage Of Emeset Syrup?

My daughter is 4 yr old, weight roughly 14 kg , had foul smell in poo for 2 days , lost of appetite & loose motions like thrice a day .I gave her gnorm sachet day before yesterday, before sending her to school because she was playful otherwise. Yesterday morning she started vomiting and had watery motions, so I gave her5 ml of emset syrup 2mg kids bottle, I tried giving her bifilac-zn sachet later , but spit it out . After after three four motions, I felt she was fine, because she eat herself after few days.( just simple daal rice and banana half slice of bread, two slices of Apple) didn t have dinner or anything later in day though. But this morning again she has watery motions and vomit. So , my question is :- 1) what should be the dosage of emset syrup, bifilac- zn sachet? I guess it s 5ml, and 1 sachet respectively, but can it be given just once a day or every time before and after food? Also how much time gap should be given after taking emset to take bifilac- zn? 2) She has been given an appointment to take flu vaccination on Monday .( I live in UK, here this vaccination is given in school to all children because of the cold weather) can she take the vaccination if she is taking bifilac-zn sachet?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As a physician, I would like to tell you that according to the history and symptoms you are telling, your daughter must be suffering from acute gastroenteritis. To treat it, only Emset syrup and Bifilac will not be enough. You will also need to give her antibiotic course like that of syrup Hifen along with syrup Emset, and Bifilac or Gnorm.

I would also like to tell you that you should visit a pediatrician as soon as possible if the symptoms do not subside after 4 to 5 days of treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Abhijeet Sangade
