What Is The Cause Of Cramps?

I feel pain and tingling sensation when peeing. It goes away when I finish peeing. When wiping myself after peeing I get a pinkish (very light blood) on the tissue. A few days ago I also had some light cramps so I think I may be pregnant. What do you think?

Hi,

The possible causes of your problem are:
-Urinary tract infection (UTI) can present with pain during micturition, rarely associated hematuria can be seen. Sometimes if a UTI is associated with local causes like cervical erosion, polyps, etc. that can present with spotting.
-Spotting can be seen in premenstrual period also.
-If you have had unprotected intercourse around the time of ovulation, there is a possibility of pregnancy. In that case, please go for a urine pregnancy test once.

If the test gives negative result and if the symptoms persist, better to consult your gynecologist once, get examined and go for urine routine and microscopy, urine culture and sensitivity. With this work-up the possible cause of your problem can be identified and treatment can be taken accordingly. Taking plenty of oral fluids, passing urine in every two to three hours, avoiding withholding the urine can help in relieving the symptoms.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sree Gouri S. R., OBGYN
