Sodium Heparin is given INTRAVENOUSLY through a syringe pump in situation where Full Anticoagulation is needed. Calcium Heparin is given subcutaneously in the abdominal wall when there is a situation for prevention of thrombosis(clot formation) is needed. Hope this answers your question.
