Hello,

There are many things we can do for this. I would like you to follow these guidelines:

Eat small, frequent meals, Elevate the head of the bed to prevent acid reflux.

Avoid foods that may trigger acid reflux such as spicy, oily or greasy foods, and citrus fruits.

Avoid eating food just before going to bed. Quit alcohol and smoking.

Maintain a regular exercise regimen. Self-massage over the abdomen. For heartburn:

1. Lansoprazole 15 mg, 15 minutes before each meal, every day
2. If needed, a combination of Aluminum Hydroxide / Magnesium Hydroxide / Simethicone is to be given after a meal, if there is a burning sensation.

Fewer than 5% of people require surgery, if it is severe and do not improve, Laparoscopy, Open repair, Endoluminal fundoplication.

Maintain a healthy lifestyle and eat light and nutritious food. A hiatal hernia may completely be solved.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dipan Samanta, General & Family Physician
