What Is Swelling At The Bottom Of Shoulder Blade Suggestive Of?
My mom (81 yrs of age) has a swelling about the size and shape of a small egg but much flatter, located at the bottom end of her shoulder blade (scapula) but more on the inside, not subcutaneous, she complains about minor pain, could it be bursitis or a swollen gland? Or maybe a fatty tumor? Or something worse? She has been told repeatedly by her physycians it is nothing...
Based on the history you have shared, it's likely a lipoma of fat tumor which is benign and doesn't have any risk of malignant transformation but may cause pain with nerve compression or on sorrounding structures. However For reassurance ultrasound of the swelling as well as if solid and not cystic, a biospy may be ordered for reassurance.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin
