I bought an Omron blood pressure monitor have just taken my first blood pressure reading. Then nine more readings as I was quite shocked by the readings. Five readings off each arm. Systolic ranged from 97 to 101. mostly 98 and 99. Diastolic ranged from 58 to 65. mostly 62 and 63. They seem awfully low. I wanted to ensure I didn t have high blood pressure but now find its lower than normal which I m told is around 120/80. I vaguely remember having it check years ago by a GP and I think he said something like 120 or 130 over 70 or 80. He died a few years back, so there is no way I can confirm that. Could this be a problem? Why so low? Comments?

Hi, question on BP . I am a woman, age 53, cholesterol 182 (mostly good, not on meds). I exercise daily (aerobic, some weights), have vasovagal syncope . Cardiologist says it is a mild case. I had been having low BPS like 90/50, some dizziness . No meds, told me to hydrate, increase salt intake. Stress test/echo last July was normal. Lower BP number he said did not adjust as quickly as he would like, but said not to be concerned. He said it often indicates that I will have high BP at some point in my life. No weight issues but I do have chronic fatigue . SO - here s my question. I went to the MD for another reason and my BP was 135 over 88. He said it was a little high but I am always very nervous at the MD office. He took it again a minute later and it was 120/80. He said to check it at home from time to time. So yesterday I checked it in the afternoon and it was 137/90. I feel like I am having some anxiety - probably over this! I checked it after exercising today (15 mins after) and it was 126/80, pulse 70. What does this all mean? pre-hypertensive?

i am 38 years old, 6'5" and 330 pounds. I've been having severe heart palpitations with shortness of breath that seems to rise up my body. First i get a warm feeling in my left ear, then i get very dizzy and start seeing white spots, then it feels like i'm losing oxygen to my head and i start to blackout. it usually goes away after i close my eyes and sit still. i have been to cardiologists who told me that i have high blood pressure and could lose weight, but my angiogram, etc. all prove normal. i am taking a beta blocker (cardovilol or something) plust a high blood pressure medication.

I just had my bp taken and it was 150 over 90. I am a 42 year old male who is dieting at the moment and dropped 15 lbs over the past month and now weigh approx. 210 lbs. (I am 5 ft. 7 in. tall). I am nervous with that reading. I had to go down two flights of stairs to get to the test, could that have had an affect on the reading??

My Dad is 72 and collapsed last year with chest pains. He was told he has an enlarged heart with excessive fat on it and high blood pressure. A year on he is now experiencing chest pains, has freezing cold hands and has severe nose bleeds about twice a week, but refuses to go to the doctor. What could this be?
