What Is Ketamine Prescribe For?

My son in law recently took his life. I just found out he was in the ER of a local hospital and he told them that he was suicidal and they kept him overnight and gave him Ketamine and also Nighthawk. I have been successful in finding online what Ketamine is but not successful in finding what Nighthawk is. Could you please explain this to me. The hospital did not keep him and let him leave after 8 hours and he committed suicide less than 8 hours later. Thank you.

Thanks for contacting HCM with your health concern

1. Ketamine is an anesthetic medication which is used to induce sleep before surgery and to prevent pain/discomfort during certain medical tests/ procedures [in his case it was given to prevent him for any further suicidal action by inducing sleep]

2. As far as nighthawk is concerned I am only familiar with 'nighthawk radiology' where radiologists can read/interpret radiographic films in the middle of the night, so the same could be applied to anesthesia medicine given during night [overnight anesthesia team]
