What Does White Spots In Private Part Indicate In Pregnancy Scan?

Dear Dr,

A white spot was spotted by my dr during my growth scanning recently. I am very worried and anxiously waiting for the next check up. Can you advice what does the white spot mean? I am having a baby boy and the spot is located near his private parts

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

White spots are usually due to presence of calcification. In a developing baby the white spot near its private parts could relate to the bones in the region. You need not get worried about it. This is a normal finding and seen in every baby. Bones are formed as small spots which grow with age to give a normal bone appearance much later.
