What Does This Ultrasound Report Signify?

I am 45 years old and have been having terrible period cramps. I went to see my doctor and she recommended a transvaginal ultra sound. The results are in and stated I have fibroids 2.2cm, a 12mm endo stripe (day 22 after period) and ovaries measuring 2cm and 3.2 cm, What does all this mean?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You have a small fibroid, which is a benign mass in the uterus. This is very common in women after 30 years of age and because your fibroid is so small, it is unlikely it is causing you any issues and very likely it does not need any treatment at the moment.

There is also a thickening of the inner layer of the womb (endometrium), this is also common but the doctor may need to follow up on it to make sure it regresses and is nothing worrisome.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
