What Does This Ultrasound Report Post Child Birth Indicate?

Hai dr. I gave birth to my stillborn baby in 9th month. (31/8/2016) from last three days means from (28/10/2016) I m bleeding heavy. Went to my midwife suggested US SCAN in that I got to know that I have fibroid size 23*16 mm seen in the anterior myometrium. My question is what does it mean and will it effect in my next pregnancy. Plz help me in finding my status of health....

Hi,

I understand your concern.

Let me explain you in brief what is a Fibroid.
1) Our Uterus is made up of muscle tissue.
2) Fibroid is a growth of the uterus muscle tissue.

Fibroid's are very common in reproductive age group women.

Available treatments:

Medical:
a) Hormone releasing Intrauterine device- In this the Gynecologist will place a device inside the uterine cavity which will release hormone which effects the growth of the fibroid.
b) Oral contraceptive pills are also used to reduce the bleeding and even to reduce the size of the Fibroid.

Surgical:
a) Myomectomy: In this procedure only the fibroid is removed and uterus in retained. This is usually beneficial to patients who want to become pregnant.
b) Hysterectomy: In this entire uterus is removed. This is preferred in patients who have completed the family.

Definitely fibroid can have effect on your next pregnancy.

Please visit your Gynecologist and plan accordingly.
