What Does This Ultrasound Report Indicate?

I had an ultrasound for certain symptoms and they said they found an 11cm complex renal cyst. They then said I would be referred to urology and booked for a ct scan. i called the hospital today to ask about the ct scan, I was told the ct scan was ordered but they are not sure if I should have it due to radiation. I am still yet to speak to a Dr regarding this

Hi,

Ultrasound scan is clearly indicating presence of complex renal cyst. CT scan will give some of the details about its dimensions. It doesn't tell what could be the cause or the nature of the lesion.

You may need renal biopsy done, which will tell about the nature of the lesion in its histopathology report. Kindly consult Urologist for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
