An recent ultrasound revealed diffuse increased echogenicity, mild cortical thinning compatible with renal parenchymal disease. They are recommending that I have a biopsy of my kidneys-ouch! Right Kidney is 11.0 cm & left is 10.7 cm. Creatinine is 1.26, BUN is 29

The report is suggestive of mild kidney damage. We have to evaluate what is the cause for that kidney damage.
There are many conditions that can damage kidneys . Common among them are Diabetes , Hypertension and long term use of pain killers.
Before going in for a biopsy you can get your blood sugars tested and also your blood pressure.If both are normal then you can get the kidney biopsy done.
