Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am post menapausal for 4-5 years and started experiencing intermediate bleeding 5 months ago. My ob/gyn attempted to obtain a biopsy last week in the office but was unsuccessful both in the office and today at the outpatient facility. My ultrasound showed uterine lining at 12 mm above the acceptable 4 mm. I had cryosurgery when I was 18 and it was a problem to have children, but had the cervix dilated for 1st pregnancy @ 32, along with invitro, and got pregnant and then 2 more pregnancies (35 and 38) without dilation or invitro. Are there any other procedures that can be done to obtain a uterine biopsy to avoid a hysterectomy?
You can consult your gynaecologist for D and C procedure to obtain material from endometrial lining of uterus. Uterotomy may be needed if it doesn't work.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
