Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hi, my name is Elizabeth. I did an abdominopelvic ultrasound 10/06/2015 and want a clearer understanding of the result [1] 'bulky uterus with uniform myometrial echopatern. AP diameter 50mm,there is an anterior wall intramural small myoma 22mm in diameter' [2] bulky liver for gender with smooth casule and surface; 138mm
Hello and welcome to HCM, The interpretation of abdominal ultrasound is as follows: The uterus is slightly enlarged and bulky. The myometrium or the uterine wall shows presence of a myoma or fibroid. Fibroid is a benign tumor arising from muscle of uterus or myometrium. The size of the fibroid is little above 2 cm. A fibroid measuring 2 cm may be symptomatic and may cause lower abdominal pain, dysmenorrhea or irregular bleeding. The liver is also bulky however, no abnormality is detected in the liver parenchyma. You may stay on follow up with your gynecologist for the fibroid.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
