What Does This Sonography Test Finding Indicate?

My mother is 64. She has developed inflamatory pain in her lower abdomen particularly on right side which extends till her back. We consulted a doctor who suggested to get sonography tests done. The test reports states mild hepatomegaly and significant post void residue. What would you suggest should be done?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi & Welcome to HCM.
Incomplete data: Any urinary symptoms? any trauma? Duration of her present symptoms?

Features are suggestive of retention of urine apparently caused by obstruction to urine flow.

She needs to be examined by a gynecologist to rule out the obstruction of the urinary bladder that might have resulted from diseases of her pelvic organs like ovary, fallopian tube, uterus or urinary bladder.

She may need further investigations like CT scan, Cystoscopy, etc.

Hope to have answered your query.
