Hi,
Thanks for writing in.
There are small bones in the lower back called
lumbar vertebrae. These are a group of 5 bones aligned one on top of each other. In between these bones there is a sponge like structure called as disc which helps in movements of the lower back.
The
MRI report is explained below in simple language.
1. L4/5 Uncovering of the posterior
intervertebral disc secondary to anterolisthesis with posterior and the anterior annulus high T2 intensity.
The alignment of bones at L 4 - L 5 level is slightly disturbed and this is causing the disc between the bones to be exposed. The T2 high intensity might refer to ?annular tears which has occurred due to degeneration.
2. There is extensive bilateral facet hypertrophic change with fluid signal within the facet joints.
The joints between the bones on the sides is showing mild degenerative changes with little fluid in the joints. This is a benign finding.
3. There is bilateral ligamentum flavum thicking and bilateral stenosis of the lateral recesses.
The ligament attaching the bones is showing thickening which is mildly obliterating the foramen on the sides through which nerves pass.
4. There is mile bilateral foraminal narrowing.
The thickened ligament is also causing narrowed foramen on both sides.
5. Mild
spinal canal stenosis is present.
There is mild decrease in spinal canal diameter. This is not a serious concern.
