Hi,

Elevated levels of SGOT and SGPT indicate possible liver damage or inflammation. This can be caused by various factors such as viral hepatitis, medication side effects, fatty liver disease, or alcohol abuse. As you mentioned that you have never consumed alcohol, other possible causes need to be ruled out by your doctor.

It is important to follow up with your doctor to determine the underlying cause of your elevated liver enzymes and to develop a treatment plan. Depending on the cause, your doctor may recommend specific medications, dietary changes, or lifestyle modifications.

In the meantime, you should avoid alcohol and any medications that can further damage the liver, such as acetaminophen (Tylenol). It is also important to maintain a healthy diet and avoid consuming fatty or fried foods.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
