What Does This Lab Report Indicate?
Global hypokinesis with inferior and inferoseptal akinesis and mildly depressed left ventricular systolic function (~ 41% by biplane) What does this mean? My husband has had a heart attack a few years ago and triple bypass was diagnosed with type two diabetes and is now on disability due to heart failure but the above information just came back from a test he had a few days ago

welcome to hcm ..mam your husband report is suggestive of cad ..let me explain in simple terms that global hypokinesia means there is decreased blood supply to whole of heart ..inferior akinesia means very very low movement perhaps due to previous heart attack ..ejection fraction is low means that pumping of heart is not adequate ..i recommend angiography as soon as possible .till then take proper medications as bp medications ...baby aspirin ..statin drug for cholesterol ..avoid physical and mental exertion smoking ....cold weather ...fast fried fatty foods . but most importantly as report suggests coronary heart disease ..go for angiography soon ..with regards dr varinder joshi
