What Does This Chest X-ray Result Indicate?

My father is 74 years old and is heart patient, diabetic and suffers with High BP. He has big mole on his nose and planning to go for a surgery after few days. Before surgery he has to go through few tests to check he is fit enough for the surgery. He went for a chest X Ray today.Remark on report shows:Long standing fibrotic infiltration right upper zone there is right apical pleural thickening.bronchitis.the clinical correlation is suggested. What does all the above mean? Is he at any risk? Is it a lung disease? Is it wise to go for surgery to remove mole?

Hello,

The X-ray remarks are suggestive of long standing lung problem. This could be due to age factor or due to smoking (if there is a history of smoking). He is at mild to moderate risk for the surgery. Yes, like I said it is a long standing chronic lung disease. You may still proceed with the surgery since it is superficial surgery to remove the mole on his nose.

However, a physician should examine the patient, and say yes to it, before proceeding with the surgery. Do not worry, the treating doctors will take a second opinion with a physician or a pulmonologist (lung specialist) before proceeding with the surgery.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
