What Does This Chest X-ray Result Indicate?

I just had a chest X-Ray. Here s what the radiologist reported:FINDINGS: Adequate inspiration. Increased opacity over the lower thoracic spine on the lateral radiograph suspicious for left lower lobe infiltrate. No pleural effusions. IMPRESSION: Question left lower lobe infiltrate. COPD with hyperinflation and attenuation of vascular and interstitial markings in the lungs. So, what does that mean? My physician said I have pneumonia. Does what s reported in the radiologist s report rule out lung cancer?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear patient,

the infiltrate normally is an indication for pneumonia. In theory, cancer can hide behinfide behind a pneumonia infiltrate, so to be honest this report is not a 100% rule out of cancer. Once pneumonia is treated, there can be a follow up x ray if there is any suspicion of cancer in your case. The rest of the lung shows no signs of cancer in your case. Best regards, please kindly rate if helpful.
