What Does This Abdominal X-ray Result For Lack Of Urge To Urinate Indicate?
Hello, I am a 65yr old female with degenerative disease of the spine and psoriasisic arthritis. Had c/4/5 fusion 5 years ago with sucessful outcome have now been having debilitating pain in lower back and chest. Radiating down right buttock/ hip to foot. Gradually becoming worse since May. Have had increasing problems with reflux constipation and urinating. Have had to go onto senna and coloxyl plus movicol 8 times a day my concern is that I do not have the urge to use bowel or to urinate. X-ray showed considerable fractal loading of large bowel. moderate degenerative changes in lumber/ sacral junction and lower thoracic region. A number of phleboliths are noted and shallow scoliosis convex to right. I have an appointment to have endoscopy, gastroscopy. Could this pain and inability to have the urge or push to move my bowels and to urinate be related to my spine?Thanking you Jean
As per my clinical experience, the lumbar spinal nerves do contribute great for the control of bladder and bowel movements via sacral plexus pathway. It is the internal sphincter and levator ani muscles which get innervated by such nerves which control the process of micurition and defecation procedures.
