Hi Dr Mathehew My Mum -108 Years. Her Urine was slightly blackish, My Dr. got me to do a UFR. result: The albumin indicates ++ ; I am not sure what it means Red Cells 8-10 /hpf ; Is this a safe range Reaction (pH) 6.5 Pus Cells Mod, Feild Full /hpf Can you give me an indication of these results and the effects I will be meeting my Dr on Monday. Regards Sris
Hello The cause of concern is Albumin ++ and red cells 8-10 hpf, pus cells full . Gentleman may be due to these possibilities , these include: 1 Urinary tract infection produces pus cells in the urine . 2 Inadequate absorption of protein ( albumin ) sometimes starts passing in the urine , that's why albumin shows ++. Presence of red cells is also an indication that kidneys are not working properly. In this cases the main thing ( due to advance age ) is impact on urinary system i.e . KIDNEY (s ) not working properly so get in ultrasound of both kidneys to find out exact nature of disorder . Also get in urine culture. Hope this will be useful for you. Good luck.
